Free Poem
She woke up
relieved from her dream
to the pitter patter of rain
on the rooftop.
Sweats covered
her shaking body
like a blanket.
The night before
she didnt want to
go to sleep.
But couldnt
help but fall into
sleep's beckoning arms.
She knew what would
happen if
she closed her eyes.
She knew her fears
would take over her mind.
Devices used:
1. onomatopoeia - "pitter patter"
2. simile - "like a blanket"
3. personification - "sleep's beckoning arms"
That is a very well written poem that uses all the techniques you mentioned very nicely. I liked it a lot.
